  1. Version 1.0 of WinGIF is finally  here!  The biggest enhancements
  2. from previous versions are palette manipulation comands, PCX support,
  3. printing, as well as integrated help.  There are also quite a few bug
  4. fixes.  I hope you like it.

  6. Known Problems:
  7.  
  8. Quite a few SVGA device drivers still have have bugs in the new Windows
  9. 3.0 call to display a DIB. The most common problem is an upside down
  10. image while decoding to the screen.  This usualy corrrects itself
  11. after fully decoding the image.  The 8514a driver has a problem with
  12. large images in monochrome or 4 bit formats.  Depending on the image
  13. you may be able to display and print as long as you don't move the
  14. viewport from the origin.  If this bytes it hangs windows and you
  15. need to reboot.  
  16.  
  17. If you use the HPPCL printer drivers with the Full page print option
  18. the driver sometimes over stretches the image and then clips it down.
  19. If you get this try sizing the image up or down a litle and try again.
  20.  
  21. Registraton:

  23. With respect to the Shareware registration.  There is no reminder box
  24. just your conscience to encourage registration.  If the reistration
  25. response is good then I will have incentive to keep improving the
  26. program.  I'm sorry that enhancements have been so slow in comming,
  27. like all of you I am very busy and am only doing this for fun. I
  28. really do appreciate the registrations.  It is great to know that
  29. some of you like what I've done.  It has and will continue to
  30. encourage me to improve WinGIF.

  42. The use of WinGIF is subject to the following terms and conditions.

  44. WinGIF is copyrighted material. It is protected by the copyright laws of 
  45. the United States. You may not make any changes or modifications to 
  46. WinGIF. You may not decompile, disassemble, or otherwise reverse-
  47. engineer the software in any way.

  49. You may use WinGIF on a trial basis provided you do not violate the 
  50. protection afforded the licensed software by the copyright laws, and you 
  51. agree to the terms of the license agreement. If you continue to use
  52. WinGIF past a 15 day evaluation period you are obligated to purchase a
  53. license for its use.

  55. A license for the use of WinGIF can be obtained by sending a $15.00 
  56. registration fee to:

  62. The license fee paid for WinGIF is a one time fee.  Licensed users may 
  63. obtain and use future revisions of WinGIF by SuperSet Software Corp.

  67. Title to the licensed software is NOT transferred to the end user.  The 
  68. end user is granted an exclusive license to use the software on one 
  69. computer or computer work station at any given time.

  71.             Limited Warranty

  74. SuperSet Software Corp. does not warrant that the licensed software will 
  75. meet your requirements or that the operation of the software will be 
  76. uninterrupted or error free.  The warranty does not cover any media or 
  77. documentation which has been subjected to damage or abuse by you or 
  78. others. The software warranty does not cover any copy  of the licensed 
  79. software which has been altered or changed in any way.

  81.  ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR 
  82. FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED TO THE TERM OF THE EXPRESS 
  83. WARRANTIES. Some States do not allow limitations on how long an implied 
  84. warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

  91. caused by the licensed software that may result from using the licensed 
  92. software. This includes, but is not limited to, computer hardware, 
  93. computer software, operating systems, and any computer or computing 
  94. accessories. End user agrees to hold SuperSet Software Corp.  harmless 
  95. for any problems arising from the use of the software.

  97. SuperSet Software Corp.  SHALL NOT IN ANY CASE BE LIABLE FOR ANY 
  98. SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT OR OTHER SIMILAR DAMAGES 
  99. ARISING FROM ANY BREACH OF THESE WARRANTIES EVEN IF SuperSet Software 
  100. Corp. OR ITS AGENTS OR DISTRIBUTORS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY 
  101. OF SUCH DAMAGES.  Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation 
  102. of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or 
  103. exclusion may not apply to you.

  105. In no case shall SuperSet Software Corp.'s liability exceed the license 
  106. fees paid for the right to use the licensed software.

  109.                 WinGIF Distribution

  113. You are granted a limited license to copy WinGIF only for the trial use 
  114. of others subject to the terms of this software license agreement 
  115. described herein, and the conditions described below are met:

  117. WinGIF MUST be copied in an unmodified form and MUST contain the 
  118. following files:
  119.     WinGIF.exe
  120.     WinGIF.hlp
  121.     WinGIF.txt
  122.     
  123. No fee, charge or other compensation may be accepted or requested by 
  124. anyone without the express written permission of SuperSet Software 
  125. Corp..
  126.  
  127. Public Domain Disk Vendors may not charge a fee for WinGIF itself. 
  128. However you may include WinGIF on a diskette for which you charge a 
  129. nominal distribution fee. The purchaser of said diskette must be 
  130. informed in advance that the fee paid to acquire the diskette does NOT 
  131. relieve said purchaser from paying the Registration Fee for WinGIF if 
  132. said purchaser uses WinGIF.

  134. Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (Sysops) may post WinGIF 
  135. for downloading by their users without written permission only as long 
  136. as the above conditions are met.  A fee may be charged for access to the 
  137. bbs as long as no specific fee is charged for downloading WinGIF files 
  138. without first obtaining express written permission from SuperSet 
  139. Software Corp. to charge such a fee.
  140.  
  141. Distributors of public domain and user supported software, such as disk 
  142. vending services, may not charge a fee for WinGIF itself. However you 
  143. may include WinGIF on a diskette for which you charge a nominal 
  144. distribution fee. The purchaser of said diskette must be informed in 
  145. advance that the fee paid to acquire the diskette does NOT relieve said 
  146. purchaser from paying the Registration Fee for WinGIF.

  148. The above constitutes the license agreement for WinGIF. It superceeds 
  149. any and all previous license agreements.
